POSITION TITLE: Executive Assistant to the Ambassador

OPEN TO: Embassy of Canada employees, spouses and dependants of Canada-based staff and all other persons who meet all of the essential requirements stated below, who have work authorization in Israel, and whose applications are received by the closing date.

JOB SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Head of Mission, provides personal secretarial assistance; acts as social secretary; manages Head of Mission’s correspondence; greets visitors and provides hospitality; and performs other duties.

TENURE: Term from mid-November Protected content , for up to one year, to be confirmed.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS: Please note: Failure to meet any of the essential requirements eliminated candidates from further consideration in the competition.

Candidates must demonstrate clearly how they meet Essential Requirements listed below:

Education: High school graduation

Experience: Relevant office, business or political experience within the past 2 years

Language: Strong oral and written skills in both English and Hebrew are required

Condition of Employment (must be met):
Ability to obtain the required security clearance for a Government of Canada Reliability Status

Candidates who meet the Essential Requirements will be assessed on the following qualifications.

The staffing process will consist of a review of all applications to ensure that applicants meet the essential requirements. PLEASE NOTE THAT FAILURE TO MEET ANY OF THE ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS ELIMINATES CANDIDATES FROM FURTHER CONSIDERATION IN THE COMPETITION. A board will be formed to conduct interviews of qualified applicants and to oversee the administration of any appropriate tests. The interview will consist of a series of questions and may include a written test and other tests designed to evaluate each applicant's knowledge, abilities and personal suitability for the position.

An eligibility list of qualified candidates may be established as a result of this anticipatory staffing process. This may be used to staff similar positions within the Embassy of Canada.
