InterNations — A Community for American Expats in Bochum

Hello to all Americans in Bochum! Are you interested in getting to know fellow expats in Bochum? Looking for advice from other Americans, e.g. wondering if there are any bars in Bochum which will be showing your favorite baseball or American football team’s upcoming match or where to go in town for st■ turkey?

There’s no doubt about it: living in Bochum means living at the heart of the Ruhrgebiet. The urban area is a North Rhine-Westphalian city known for its coal mining and steel industry past, the subsequent shift towards the service sector following the closures of the mines in the 80s, today’s many institutions of higher education, and much more! With the comprehensive public transportation system including bus, tram, as well as underground (Stadtbahn) services, navigating your way around the city from one place to the next is simple. This also means that if you don’t want to live among the hustle and bustle of the center, you can enjoy a quieter life in other parts of the Rhein-Ruhr area, which are an easy commute away from Bochum’s center.

Although Bochum has lots to offer, you might be wondering where and how you can meet other Americans in the city. Luckily, InterNations is here to make this easier for you! You’re warmly invited to join the InterNations community. Within our international network in Bochum, there’s a vibrant circle of American expats from all regions of USA, including New York City, Los Angeles, and beyond.
