Job Purpose Summary

The VFX Concept Artist is responsible for:

- Protected content the art direction provided by the lead studios

- Protected content the alignment between this art direction and the project deliveries

Provide mood paintings/overpaints/sketches/storyboards and modeling references to support the various content teams

Understanding the art direction provided by the lead studios:

o Understand the visual direction of the game set by the lead studio and communicate it to the team

o Work closely with the Art Director to ensure the artistic direction is maintained across all concepts produced

o Research and gather references related to the game

o Understand the time period, history and setting of the game and implement it

Ensuring the alignment between this art direction and the project deliveries

o Build and maintain good communication/cooperation with CTU various teams

o Maintain good communication with the art Director of CTU and MTL to ensure the visual direction of the game is maintained in the production

o Provide good visibility to other for the progress, such as the daily report, meeting recap and JIRA updates

Provide mood paintings/overpaints/sketches/storyboards and modeling references to support the various content teams

o Work with the Producer/leads to establish concept needs for the CTU teams

o Create mood paintings to support the LD/GD teams

o Create overpaints to support the Art/LD/GD teams

o Create modeling references for the Art team

Communication and Collaboration:

o Communicate and collaborate with leads and directors within CTU on direction or technical guidelines.

o Communicate and collaborate with Lead Artist on issues relating to schedule, priorities and risks.

o Actively participate in all team meetings and reviews

o Play and understand the current game and the franchise as a whole

o Mentoring/supporting less experienced members of the team

o Share know-how with members of your team

Studio and the Group:

o The success of the project is the main objective; success includes growing the studio competencies.

o Identify and promote the application of the best practices. Contribute to major innovations

o Share experience and develop Ubisoft culture

Several performance indicators will allow us to track progress:

o Quality of concepts delivered on the different projects, as judged by team in the respective lead studios.

o Art compliance of concepts produced, according to the lead studios’ Art Director

o Expert usage of required tools

o Adherence to scheduled delivery of work as outlined by the Lead Artist

o Dedication to the team, as judged by Lead Artists, Producers & PA

o Dependency with your leads & colleagues
