As a part of WatchGuard Engineering team, supporting WatchGuard’s Firewall products, Cloud products, and Wireless products, the candidate will be responsible for software testing research, design, planning, execution, scripting and reporting for a variety of in-house products and 3rd party services.
The individual should be self-motivated, creative and proactive, to work successfully in a fast-paced environment including multiple platforms and architectures, diverse technologies and lab environments. The individual will work closely with developers, product owners, technical program managers, technical support engineers and other stakeholders throughout the SDLC, executing test iterations, tracking / reporting results, troubleshooting and coordinating defect resolution. The individual should have a strong understanding of SDLC processes and the QA lifecycle and methodology.
Interact with product owners, technical program managers, and other stakeholders to develop a strong understanding of business requirements and testing scope.
Design and document test plans, test cases and test environments by using company SDLC tools.
Execute test cases, report progress, analyse results and submit test reports.
Work with automation team on scripting cases, building API, executing scripts and analysing automation results.
Participate in troubleshooting customers issues with different teams to drive towards root cause identification and resolution.
Review product documents and ancillary software to make sure its accuracy and support testing on production deployment.
Seek feedback from managers and other stakeholders for continuous improvements on testing methodology, documents, and testing quality.
Be innovative on manual testing methodology to identify critical bugs before GA and improve product quality.
Work with different teams on analysing customer issues to reduce bugs escaping to customers.
Relevant experience in software development and/or testing role.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of automated testing tool.
Knowledge of Spirent, Ixia or other software performance testing tools is preferred.
Good development/scripting skill in common language like Python, Java, Perl, etc.
Good experience with different operating systems, with emphasis on Linux distributions.
Must demonstrate an understanding of IP networking, HTTP/HTTPS, etc.
